The Ward Family is made up of six sisters who have been playing and singing together since 2003. It was then that a visiting evangelist gave Rebekah, Rachel and Sarah five lessons each on the guitar, mandolin and banjo. Since that time, the Wards have honed their musical skills through hard work, determination, and with the help of the Lord.
Currently, the group consists of Rebekah on bass fiddle, Sarah on banjo, Hannah on guitar, Esther on fiddle, Abby on mandolin, and Bethany on mandolin. (Rachel has since gotten married and is no longer with the group.)
The group enjoys competing and has placed at several bluegrass competitions. One of the highlights of their year was winning the Bluegrass Band competition at the Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention in Athens, Alabama. Sarah also won the banjo competition there, and Hannah placed third in flat top guitar.
The group has won and placed in several other contests, including Uncle Dave Macon Days in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Smithville Fiddlers Jamboree in Smithville, Tennessee.
